    The basic concept of LOTO locks is simple but powerful. When a machine requires maintenance, every energy source that could potentially activate it is isolated. This could include electrical power, hydraulic pressure, pneumatic pressure, or stored mechanical energy. Once the energy is isolated, a lock is applied to the energy control point, preventing anyone from accidentally turning on the machine.
