loto safety: ensuring worker safety through lockout/tagout procedures
Release time:2025-11-18 07:01:28

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Safety is a critical safety procedure in industrial and manufacturing environments, aimed at preventing accidents and injuries caused by the unintended release of hazardous energy during maintenance or servicing of machines and equipment. LOTO safety protocols ensure that machines are properly shut down and cannot be re-energized until maintenance is completed, protecting workers from potentially life-threatening situations.

    What is LOTO Safety?
LOTO Safety refers to the practice of locking and tagging the energy sources of machines or equipment before maintenance or repair work begins. The process involves two key steps:
Lockout: This is the physical locking of energy-isolating devices, such as switches, valves, or circuit breakers, to prevent the release of hazardous energy (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic) during maintenance.
Tagout: This involves placing a warning tag on the locked device to inform others that maintenance work is being performed and the machine should not be operated.
