LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) safety procedures are essential protocols in various industries to protect workers from potential injuries caused by the accidental release of hazardous energy during equipment maintenance or repair. The purpose of LOTO safety is to ensure that machines and equipment are properly shut down and their energy sources are isolated before any repair or maintenance work begins. By following these safety procedures, businesses can significantly reduce the risk of workplace accidents and create a safer environment for their employees.

    What is LOTO Safety?
LOTO safety is a set of procedures designed to protect workers from the dangers associated with the release of hazardous energy. Energy can take many forms, such as electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or thermal energy. When workers are servicing or maintaining equipment, there is a risk that the equipment could accidentally start up or release stored energy, leading to serious injuries or even fatalities.
LOTO safety involves two key actions:
Lockout: Locking out the energy source by physically isolating or disconnecting it, and applying a lock or other physical device to prevent reactivation of the equipment.
